Review by Mike Thorpe of Team Fishcake.

A corker of a night. One thing I enjoy about this time of year is seeing all the new faces absolutely astounded by the standard of comedy that malarkey provides. There were some seriously impressed looking people, I heard several people saying how great the Russ Glennon night was, and we got loads of new members. Ace.

RUSS GLENNON

As is usual for the first act on, they struggled a bit due to a quiet crowd. Some great lines in there, but didn't seem very confident. By no means was he bad, a few of his lines got huge laughs, but probably needs to practise his delivery more.

Mick Davies
MICK DAVIES

Although still struggling from a slightly lethargic crowd, Mick managed to deliver several screaming lines (with the slightly less tasteful material going down the best). No problem with Mick's confidence, but he was TOO QUIET! The set dipped a bit in the middle, but brought it back up again to finish on a high.

Dan Nightingale DAN NIGHTINGALE

The boy wonder did it again. Tore the fucking place up. interacting with the crowd, adlibbling and taking the piss out of a birthday boy (hi Gavin). The crowd totally lapped it up. Dan is unnaturally talented. It's not fair on all the other acts to have someone as witty, spontaneous and hilarious as Dan on the comedy circuit. Totally fantastic and incredibly enjoyable. An absolute star. Again.

Caimh McDonnell CAIMH McDONNELL

Another guy that looks like a natural on stage, but in an incredibly laid back way. Managed to do jokesabout the cultural differences between Ireland and England without sounding patronising or insulting. Had the crowd in the palm of his hand with a routine that it was impossible to ignore.

Rhod Gilbert RHOD GILBERT

I like comedians that have a slightly weird edge to them, and Rhod is someone that falls into that category. A deadpan delivery that brought some classic gags and punchlines that sneaked upon you and tickled you without you realising they were on their way. Fantastically sinister material about stalking and his grandparents, and wonderfully insane topics rambling off on several tangents at once.

Mike.
